Congratulations to the winners of our Fall 2016 Essay Contest! Partcipants were asked to write a 200-500 word essay answering the question “What are some of the underlying economic issues that caused a majority of British voters to choose to leave the European Union?”
Sanchit Shorewala, a senior studing economics and statistics here at Cal, won first place and a $50 Amazon gift certificate for his essay “Globalization and its Discontents; Explaining Brexit.”
Joseph Hernandez, a Berkeley sophomore majoring in economics with a minor in history, won second place and a $25 gift card for his piece “Brexit and Social Capital.”
Gino Hwang, a freshman economics major at Berkeley, won third place and a $10 certificate for his submission.
